Cable Technician #1

Full Time Cable Installer

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Install Cable T.V. and high-speed data and or digital services,VOIP, to customers within a determined area.
  2. Install and/or repair coaxial cable lines inside and outside of customer’s homes pursuant to cable system standards.
  3. Measure, record and determine cable signal strength and general drop and grounding conditions or installations and trouble shoot problems where necessary.
  4. Maintain, secure and account for equipment inventories, including modems, converters, drop equipment, and other equipment issues by company or cable system.
  5. Prepare regular, accurate, legible, and timely cable system installation, service, and production, mileage, and timesheet paperwork for supervisors.
  6. Workweek is from Monday through Sunday, Shifts will include Saturdays and Sundays.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum/Preferred Requirements:

  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Valid driver’s license
  • Additional Skills/Knowledge:
    • Ability to follow prescribed company and cable system polices, procedures, and protocols for installation, service, equipment maintenance and office communications.
    • Ability to communicate with customers in describing the cable TV. service proper operation of installed devises.
    • Ability to present a neat, lean, and professional image that reflects well on Vitel and clients.

Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:
Must be able to lift 75 lbs. Position also requires work on ladders and multistory buildings. Work is performed inside and outside and underground, including attics and crawlspaces with exposure to heat, cold, dampness, noise, and dust. Work is also performed on occasion in confined spaces. Position may occasionally require travel.
